My weekly escape from all things grad school is Glee. I don't care if this makes me silly or if others don't like it, but I love the musical arrangements and have enjoyed the story-lines (mostly). The finale this week actually moved me and I think that's because it managed to capture the emotions I felt leaving high school, and then Louisville. The performance below is melodramatic, but authentic. When you leave home, your friends, and your love it is just like this: you rip your heart out and then find a way to put it back together.
Even when I'm homesick or tired, I'm still grateful for this opportunity to establish my own roots before branches.
All my love,
Elizabeth

Hey Elizabeth - I just read your most recent posts. Let me start by saying, you are INCREDIBLE, you know that right? I'm telling you this, in the event that you may not have had anyone remind you of that as often as you need to hear it. I read your posts and often wonder how you are in life. Sadly, via the words in your posts, I come to find that you typically doubt just how amazing and courageous you are! For as long as I have known you, your passion far exceeds that of the common. The qualities that you possess (passion, courage, strength, the never ending quest for prominence and distinction) are all traits that many people search for in life but never fully obtain. With elegance and grace you have always seemed to accomplish anything you have ever set your mind. I have always recognized those admirable qualities in your spirit and your heart. Simply put, you are incredible! Remind yourself of that truth every day! I will end my comment as I often do by stating, always know that you are missed every day and that you are ALWAYS loved!

When I left home for University, I was so happy. Finally, freedom!
Probably, the only time I felt a similar emotion is when I was on night shift in the army and the rain was pouring down.
Hopefully the end is nigh and you are excited by it. See you on the Oriel Ball weekend! :-)
